The Neahusan Clan

I sure do love my kids, and they try so hard.  I just think they got in over their head this time and were a little misguided by my well meaning husband.  Yes, I'm talking about every mother's delight and dread:  Mother's Day Breakfast in Bed!

Little did I know, I was getting a new blender for the special occasion.  Sean thought it would be good for Aspen to test it out using one of our favorite recipes:  blender wheat pancakes.

Wheat pancakes, eggs, & strawberries
Problem #1:  Sean did not get up with the kids and help them in this endeavor.

Problem #2:  Aspen (or any of the other kids for that matter) has never made this before.

Problem #3:  The hard wheat kernels did not get blended enough.  Instead of course flour, they were still mostly intact hard-as-a-rock wheat kernels.

Problem #4:  This runny/crunchy batter was then cooked on a way too hot griddle which caused the pancakes to stick and burn.

No, I'm trying not to be overly critical and mean.  Even Sean couldn't eat it!  The fact is, it was just completely inedible.  And no, I am not quite as self-sacrificing Mom who will persevere and eat whatever her endearing children put before her on this special day, just for the kids sake.  Nope, I'm not that noble.  I think the whole thing was rather hilarious.  The kids were so proud of their accomplishment, until they started eating it.  The strawberries were tasty.

Yep, this is definitely a Mother's Day that will be remembered.
