This is a five bedroom, three bathroom, 2800 sq foot house on a culdesac. It has a nice big pond and huge back yard (all dirt--blank slate). The kids will finally have a place to throw around a ball and ride bikes. It's also in the same school boundaries so no changing schools for the kiddies. As you'll see in the pictures below, it is a bit of a fixer, but we really couldn't ask for more potential in a house for the price. Click on the pictures below to see them big.
O.K. So it's not a brand new house, but it will be new to us! It's as old as our marriage: lucky 13 years! We're so excited that this is finally happening! After a year and a half of looking around, and having multiple offers on multiple other properties fall through, we're finally able to close on something.

Will lost his very first tooth. What was funny was that the tooth fairy didn't come until the middle of the day the following day! Silly tooth fairy! She generously left him 4 whole quarters though, so it's o.k.
Eli's smiling all the time now. He's getting really good at sleeping through the night too. He just doesn't like taking day-time naps in his crib. He still sleeps on me most nap times. Perhaps it's because I refuse to swaddle him during the day. Eli's just starting to try to laugh, but it comes out as a weird gasp. He's also discovered his hands. He prefers sucking on his left fist. It's always the left one. Might we have another lefty in the family? He's getting a pretty strong grip too. He can't grab for things on purpose, but boy oh boy can he accidentally pull hair and not let go! He still has a temper, but it's not as frequent, mostly only if Mommy's had too many onions or beans the day before. He snorts pretty heavily when he's upset. It's kinda comical.
Sean had surgery on his neck a week ago, March 10th. He had two herniated disks in his neck that have been causing pain and numbness in his right arm and hand. His shoulder's been pretty tight and sore too.
His doctor was great and everything went really smoothly. They actually fit two pieces of cadaver bone in where the cartilage used to be. They shaved off all the bone spurs of his own vertebrate that were causing all the trouble. He stayed overnight and came home the next morning. He was feeling really pretty good that first day, just tired. Then the heavy duty meds and anestesia wore off and he felt worse the next few days. But he's feeling pretty decent again now as long as he remembers to take his muscle relaxer and pain medication. His shoulder's really been killing him, now that his arm, hand and neck are better. We're hoping that this goes away soon. The doctor said it was not abnormal to feel such pain for a while after surgery while the nerves get used to actually "feeling" again. We're very grateful for all the love, prayers, and support that have been sent our way. Eli got his name and blessing at church today. It was so nice to have so many family and friends be here for the occasion.
Eli always sleeps with his hands up to his head, unless he's swaddled. This is my favorite picture of Eli to date.
Eli's just barely starting to smile "on purpose." He's starting be more alert, and shows off his big blue eyes. He definitely has a temper at times. He likes to sleep vertical in the fetal position. Everyone tells me that Eli is "such a Neahusan." I just take it as a compliment. We all love him so much.
Now Eli's 3 weeks old already. Wow. He's started to prove me wrong in somethings too. He spit up all over my bed. He's gets pretty cranky when I eat too many onions. And he's getting better about burping. It's been fun watching him grow and change and noticing the glimmer of personality that's already developing.
Our big question of the week: Who do you think Eli looks most like? Here's the siblings' baby pictures to compare. Have fun! Eli's bellybutton finally fell off a few days ago, yea! So now he can get his whole body submerged. I know it doesn't look like it in this picture, but he was really enjoying his bath for the most part. Like I mentioned in the previous post, he especially loves his head being washed/massaged. He has the cutest expression on his face when it happens. Now that he was all clean and ready to go, Eli and Mommy went to all 3 hours of church today. Eli did great and brought many smiles to onlookers. Unfortunately he's getting way too good at peeing on himself during a diaper change. I need to be quicker on the draw I guess. I can't believe it's been two whole weeks already! Eli seems so much bigger to me now, but really he's not. He just had his two week check-up today, and he only weighed 7 lbs. 4oz. now. He had lost a little weight (completely normal) early on, so he regained all that plus 2 oz. He's also an inch longer now too. He's healthy in every way, eating well, and still a peaceful happy baby. He's starting to be awake for longer stretches, an hour or more at a time. He just so cute and so quiet as he stares at the ceiling or the back of the couch or someone's face. He'll just stare and stare without making a peep. He'll smile every once in a while too, usually in his sleep. It's the most precious thing in the world to see such an uninhibited expression of joy on such a little face.
His bellybutton scab still hasn't fallen off yet. The doctor said any day though. I can't wait to give him a real bath. Sponge baths are such a pain. Eli hates having his lower half washed, it's one of the few times I've heard him belt it out so loud. As soon as I put a diaper on him and gently wash his head, it's like heaven for him. You can see the pure ecstasy in his eyes. It's so adorable! The kids still love him to pieces, but he's not the center of their lives anymore. Will has tried to regress a touch though. He's been talking like a baby and occasionally crawling around on the floor like a baby, or even wanting to be held like a baby. We had to have a good chat about how much better it is to be a BIG BOY, and how many more things he can do than if he were a baby. In fact, the only reason Will could come up with why he wanted to be a baby was because then he could stay up late. When I mentioned the 3-4 naps a day that babies take in order to stay up late, that quieted him down quickly. All in all, the family's adjusting. Our kids are pretty awesome. I know they're lacking for attention at times, but they're being good sports about it. They're great helpers and even let me take naps without waking me. |
